Except for a couple of times when the units stopped communicating with each other, the system works as per advertisement.

When the inside-house unit loses its status with the garage door unit you simply unplug the DC power from the top of the unit for a second and then plug it back in. The communications resets and works again. 99% of the time it works but that 1% of the time you need to reset the system.

Helpful hints:
Use a clean flat surface to stick the garage door unit. Do not stick it on the door itself...use a metal part close to the edge.

Be careful of inserting the battery correctly. The documentation was a little vague on this point.

Esthetically, it leaves a lot to be desired. They never mention the ugly little antenna wire on the inside-house unit. But...that doesn't negate the usefulness of the system.

Suggestions for improvement:
Make the red LED light a little brighter.

Packed with tons of features (ability to customize not just the distance but the pressure used to close the garage door, the sensor-based light, the battery back-up), extremely well written instructions and straight forward (though time-consuming) to set up. It took me at least half a day to replace my old garage door opener with this one, which I wasn't expecting. The product itself, the instruction manual, remote door opener, sensors, everything is well designed, and most importantly (to me) it is super quiet.

My only wish is that the remote garage door key pad used more than just a 4-digit code, seems a bit archaic nowadays.

This was a very complete kit. I didn't use the hardware that came with it as I found it easier to use the original. I only replaced the worm gear and the sprocket gear. It took me two hours start to finish and that included two trips to the neighbors to borrow a punch and use a vise.

The only issue I ran into was with the instructions. Page 2, section 5, line 2 says to run the opener until it completes a "clockwise" cycle. After following these instructions twice, I found I had to allow it to complete a "counter clockwise" cycle for it to work properly. Once I figured this out, it was smooth sailing. I don't know if this was a misprint, or because this kit is universal (I have a Craftsman).

Overall, I recommend this product.

Even the travel and force adjustments were very straightforward. I have a giant, hulking door to lift and this does the job with no complaints.

The box did not come with enough brackets to suspend the opener from the ceiling, but since I was replacing an old one, that didn't matter. If you are doing a new installation, you'll need a few more brackets.

I have a Genie garage door opener which had the original factory sensors and was having problems operating the garage door due to sunlight interference. My installation is challenging because of my door's eastern exposure and the intense morning sun that is frequent in Colorado. I tried multiple re-alignments; reversing the sensors; and changing the sensor mounting locations to minimize exposure to direct sunlight. My garage door opener simply would not function on sunny mornings using the Genie sensors.

I installed the Digi-Code Universal Safety Beam Sensors several months ago and have had no problems since. Instruction and mounting are simple. The brackets are more staple (not prone to misalignment caused by vibration or accidental bumping of the mounting brackets - when installed correctly). Getting the sensors to align with the beam was easier than with the Genie sensors. Conversion to a non-Genie product was also very simple.

I have had the 3/4 horse model in for several weeks now. It performs flawlessly. I am using is on a 18x8 door with high wind bracing, very heavy door. Once I got it adjusted, as instructed, it performs very well.
It did take several hours to install as I was working alone. Get help with the install and it will go alot faster.
You might need to pick up some additional hardware for supporting of the unit, especially if you have a high ceiling.
Also, the dual lights really add to the amount of light and makes this a more desirable product over a single light unit.

This is my first purchase from the Amazon Marketplace. I was a little uneasy about purchasing so I read the reviews of other people who had bought items from this company. In my case everything went very smoothly.
A word of CAUTION. If you are purchasing remotes from Lift Master be very careful that you are getting the one for your specific opener. I found in my research that there are several openers that all look exactly the same. They are for various models. The key is the color of the "Learn" button on your opener motor (inside the garage). Check the color and then check the remote to make sure the color description matches.
About the remote, I love it. It's small and doesn't add much bulk to my key chain. It has three buttons for various features. On my garage I can turn the inside lights on and off and of course open the door. The set up of the buttons is up to you. You can assign the functions to any button you choose-- Well done Lift Master!
I would recommend this product and company to others.

I decided on this opener because extreme cold (-20) has caused problems with others. The opener is quiet and instilation and assembly are straight foreward. The door should be reinforced where the opener attaches to prevent damage if the door bottom freezes to the floor. I wish all the manufactures would have a better mounting method for attaching the motor unit to the ceiling. The one supplied is adequite but nothing to brag about.

My house came equipped with a 1992 chain-drive Liftmaster garage door. It was very noisy and finally stopped working a couple of weeks ago. So I shopped at my local home repair stores and shopped online and found this model to be the most economical choice for my family's needs (Amazon.com had by far the best price).

I was intimidated by the install, so the box sat in my living room for a couple of weeks. After reading the comprehensive instructions, I realized that I could leave the old door sensors, wiring and mounting hardware from my former unit. My 8-year old son helped me string the belt (a 2 person operation for sure) and my inattention to detail at this step was the only holdup on installation. I can say to make sure the opener trolly is fully in the "closed" position, that is to say at the end of the opening rail furthest from the unit. We started with the trolly in the middle and the result was that the door would only close halfway. After spending an hour figuring this out, re-threading the belt with the trolly in the proper position fixed it immediately. With that exception, instillation should have been just over an hour - but definitely longer if not for using my previously-installed hardware and mounting bracket.

Since install, it has performed marvelously. Opens and shuts perfectly each time. The rollers on my garage door are louder than the "whisper drive" belt system. My wife is surprised when I walk in the house from the garage because she doesn't hear the garage door opening.

I have had this machine for a year and a half. The stupid thing was supposed to have a long warranty on the belt and parts.

I started noticing it was closing and going back up. I thought it was the misaligned beams, but it was not.

I noticed a black ring on the ground and did not know where it came from.

Later the stupid thing would choke on itself.

Come to find out after it would not close anymore the wheel that belt turned at the garage side broke. The stupid thing was made of plastic and the belt ate away at the bottom rim, so that was where the ring came from. It had chaffed away the bottom of the plastic wheel.

My question is, what numbnutt would design a garage door opener with a part that obviously faces the most stress from cheap plastic? The piece is so cheap, you could swear it belongs in your kids toy box. It chaffed away and the belt got chewed.

Could they have spent an extra 3 bucks to have made it from aluminum, if that?

The motor works fine, but the design is stupid and does not last. I had a contractor install it. I will never buy a belt driven garage door anymore. Who cares if it is quiet, you can still hear it opening from inside the house.

Do not buy till they replace the plastic pully wheel on the other end of the garage door opener. I know a lot of people just bought it, but I have owned it for a year and a half. The customer service person was nice and sent me a new part, but a week later that one broke.

So I am really mad. If they had made it of metal it would not have chaffed again even with the new belt.

i ordered this so i would not have to purchase an entirely new gagage door opener. It took me about 3 hours and 3 beers to get the job done (i wonder if i drank one beer if it would take one hour). it works great and there is one less opener in the landfill. With the extra $100 bucks i saved, i took my family out to dinner. i would have given the product 5 stars but it seems silly that they make the most critical part - the gear - out of plastic. nonetheless, it was sort of fun to fix it myself with minimal tools. i think that when the other garage door goes, it will likely take about 30 - 45 minutes now that i know what i am doing.
